Hi.

I'm Amy. I'm Church Planting with my husband and home educating our 2 cubs. I offer creative ideas, activities and resources to Christian families, to help their little ones know God for themselves. I blog about what I'm learning along the way.
I really believe:
making disciples starts at home.

You Name It - Make a Gratitude House

You Name It - Make a Gratitude House

You Name it!

Thanksgiving is upon us.

Let's name the people and things we are thankful for.

Psalm 100:4 says
"Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name!"

After last week's NAMES of GOD craft that had us spinning with excitement, it felt best to follow on with this verse. We enter his house, his courts, his presence, with our thankfulness and our praise and bless his name for all the things he has given us.

What are you thankful for?

This is a great activity to get your cubs thinking about thankfulness, gratefulness and also Thanksgiving Day if you celebrate it.

The big idea!

Use this as a countdown for the week before Thanksgiving!

Open a door each day together, talk about the question prompts or discuss your pictures.

The full HOW TO will be included in the download - but my 2 top tips include:

  1. Always use Cardstock for best results!
  2. Always look for your craft knife before you attempt to begin with blunt scissors and make a mess. (Having said that if you *parent* don't have a craft knife, using sharp scissors will still work well)

I've included an template version with one God related question and another template with a replacement question, if you'd prefer it not to be specifically Christian.

Next: Decorate the page with the inside of your doors showing, if you don't use the question prompts.
I introduced the craft saying we were going to make some houses of thankfulness, and showed them how the doors would open and reveal a secret behind. Mr Dude immediately decided he was going to draw a door for Holy Spirit, a door for Jesus and a door for Father and the rest of our family. Once he had done it, he showed me who was opening the door to who. Such a great idea.

Of course, you don't have to do that. You can have them come up with their own theme for pictures, or items or people they are thankful for.

Score, pop open, position and stick,
Once you're all done, cut out the shape and you are left with a beautiful house!

Get thanking and name those precious things!

ENJOY!

Amy
