Hi.

I'm Amy. I'm Church Planting with my husband and home educating our 2 cubs. I offer creative ideas, activities and resources to Christian families, to help their little ones know God for themselves. I blog about what I'm learning along the way.
I really believe:
making disciples starts at home.

Oh My God

Oh My God

Oh My God

Engage kids with Jesus, help them write their own worship song!

Choose a nursery rhyme or children's song that you and your cubs know well - it helps knowing the tune first!

Sing the song and/or read it together if you have it in a book! .
Talk about what your cubs like about it and don't like about it.
Now suggest to change it into a song about God!
We did this with Old MacDonald Had a Farm and it worked really well.

Mr Dash (5.5yrs) made up most of the words. We started with "Old Lord Jesus" but decided that although he existed before time it sounded a bit funny to call him Old
So Dash then decided on... "Oh My Jesus!"

Now you give it a go!! (Or just borrow ours) I didn't grow up with Kids Church songs so I don't know but I'm sure this has already been done somewhere as nothing is new under the sun. Either way we enjoyed it and hope you do too! .

🎶 Oh my Jesus, made the world
Yes, oh yes he did!
And in the world he made some ... COWS 🐮🐮
yes, oh yes he did!
With a Moo here.... etc 🎶

We didn't just use animals. We included all sorts of things in our song that we are thankful for, from Falcons to couds, rivers and Daddy!

Have fun with it and tell us what song you managed to transform!
You could try POP SONGS for the older cubs among your packs! 🎸

ROAR by Katy Perry is a personal favourite of mine to adapt, what will you try?!

Tell us what you come up with in the comments!  Don't forget to write them down so you can look back and giggle when they're all grown up.

Amy
xoxo
