4 Games to Learn What God Says About Animals
Animal imagery in the Bible.
Each month you'll find a collection of posts or a blog list of ideas to spread across the days and weeks with your cubs.
This month's theme is Animals.
What animal is God like? What animals are others like? What animals are we like?
The Bible uses lots of imagery, where God likens himself and people to animals in different situations. In Deuteronomy 32, it says God looked after Jacob like an eagle looks after his young in the nest; guiding them, spreading its wings and catching them. Exodus 19:4 God says, he carried his people on eagle wings. Holy Spirit descended like a dove at Jesus' baptism. There are many other examples where God uses this imagery of birds and animals to describe what he has done or what he is like. Just as Jesus used parables to help his disciples or the crowds understand, so too does God often use similes or metaphors in His Word to help us understand him better. He also helps us understand ourselves more by using the same language to reveal our own characters, behaviours, and needs too.
Here are 4 activities for you to enjoy over the month.
