The Names of God

I AM, 40 Reasons To Trust God, by Diane Stortz

“If we want to get to know God better, learning His names is a very good place to start. That’s because each one of God’s names in the Bible tells us something about who He is, what He is like, or what He does.” Diane Stortz

“God’s names tell us who He is, what He is like, and what He does. This beautiful book covers 40 of the Bible’s many names and descriptive titles for God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.”

RLD I AM book review

This is how we spend our mornings 👉🏻 Bible journals and beautiful devotions. At the moment we alternate between the Indescribable devotional by Louie Giglio and this 🌟
I AM, 40 Reasons To Trust God, by Diane Stortz.

This one is a favourite of ours. It’s all about the names of God and a story that illuminates God’s character and teaches us how He is who He says He is.
It’s AMAZING. 🔥💥❤️

I AM Devotional

Today we read about Jesus staying behind in the synagogue after the Passover Feast, to talk to the teachers, while his mom and dad ran around looking for him. The story illustrates how Jesus was both God’s Son and Mary and Joseph’s. He was obedient when they found him and said it was time to come home and he was obedient to God his Father as he grew up.

We are spending a lot of time lately talking about listening, and DOING ✅ what is asked. It’s been a fight, a struggle and exhausting at times. So when they chose this story I took it as an opportunity to teach about being like Jesus: who listened to God, and obeyed his parents.🚸

My prayer is that starting our day in the Bible and talking with Jesus about what we’ve learnt will encourage us to have a day of peace.

How do you start your day? What’s your prayer today?

“Each Bible story gives young children an age-appropriate example of the meaning of the name.” Stortz

The rest of the book is just jam-packed with beautiful illustrations, Bible verses, well-written stories, recommended prayers, and excellent teaching. It goes through the Bible chronologically, drawing out who God is in these familiar stories that we know and love.

Each story is concluded with a What Does It Mean section, where the author relates the principle of the story and the message of who God is back to our daily lives. Posing questions, presenting scenarios that helps us all to understand more about God’s character, so that we naturally grow more in love with Him as we do.

Each story has a Learn More and What Happened Next section, where more Bible verses are suggested to read that relate to the story, and where the story is put into context learning what happened next. Such helpful tools to encourage older ones to see the bigger picture of the Bible, and how verses in the NT can relate to stories in the OT.

My kiddos love to read their favourite stories over and over, it’s been a really simple yet beautiful way to learn who God says He is and getting to know him better.

Alternatively, do what we do with our devotional time and encourage your kids to draw their own pictures of the stories to help them remember them in more detail which their journals give space for them to do. These journals are a great Bible Study resource for kids check out the Bible journal designed by @kristinschmucker sold by The Daily Grace Co
